Life before the Internet and Google (via Digg)
Posted 2 months ago
As you might have seen from my previous two posts, social networking is really starting to grow at a huge rate, and it’s not just limited to Facebook and Twitter anyone (although a lot of other social networking sites tie seamlessly into them).
foursquare
This is a great new location aware social networking site, it takes your current location (either by using the very clever Google Gears on Chrome) or if on smartphone such as the iPhone it takes the location from the inbuilt GPS. It then uses this information to finds places to “CheckIn” and you gain medals and honours. This of course can post straight to Facebook and Twitter and there is an iPhone app available.

DailyBooth
This is a snapshot based social networking website in which you take a snapshot of yourself or something you are currently doing either by a camera or a webcam and you can post a short message along with it. I believe this makes social networking much more personal as it ties a name to a face! This can send posts to Facebook and Twitter, but no iPhone app available yet :(

Flowr
Seen this today from one of my other Twitter friends and this social networking site is based for businesses and allows collegues to easily collaborate information such as ideas, thoughts, things to do and events. So far it looks like a very good GTD (getting things done) tool.
Tumblr
As you can see I’m actually posting this from Tumblr and I think this is a great new blogging website as an alternative to Wordpress and Blogger and includes some cools features such as custom domain names and is much more up-to-date with some cool Web 2.0 features. It also posts to Facebook and Twitter and has an iPhone app available.
TweetDeck
I couldn’t end this post without bigging up TweetDeck. This is a brilliant platform for posting to lots of different social networks at the same time including multiple Twitter accounts, Facebook, foursquare, LinkedIn, MySpace and now even Google Buzz (although this is one social network that I really can’t see taking off as it is too similar to Twitter). It also integrates location aware functions and the ability to upload photos and videos. There is also a brilliant iPhone app available too.
